A GoFundMe page established to support the family of Chanelle Alvarez, 15, highlights the tragic loss as a result of domestic violence. The teenager from Ogden, Utah, was allegedly shot and killed on October 18 by her 16-year-old boyfriend, Hezekiah Plummer, who has been charged with first-degree murder.
Alleged Shooting and Initial Response
According to police reports, the incident occurred in the early hours of Saturday, October 18, in Ogden, a city north of Salt Lake City. A family member reportedly discovered Alvarez deceased in her bedroom after being awakened by a gunshot. Witnesses observed Plummer fleeing the scene via the stairway, allegedly carrying a firearm.
Initial reports indicated Plummer attempted to explain the situation as a “robbery,” claiming another individual had attempted to rob them both. However, authorities have since focused on the relationship between Alvarez and Plummer as central to the investigation.
Arrest and Charges
Plummer was apprehended in a neighboring county with over $4,000 in cash and a small amount of marijuana, as reported by Fox 13. Law enforcement officials stated that Plummer had disposed of the weapon prior to his arrest. Alvarez’s mother informed authorities that Plummer arrived at their home around 1:00 a.m. on the night of the shooting.
He now faces charges of first-degree murder, obstruction of justice, and theft of a firearm. Court documents suggest Plummer will be tried as an adult.
Community Mourns “Spectacular” Teen
