A 12-year-old teenager was hit by a stray bullet inside his house on Morro do Banco, in Itanhangá, west of Rio. According to the Military Police, the victim was rescued and taken to the Lourenço Jorge Hospital, in Barra da Tijuca, also in the west zone.
The case happened last Monday (1st), the teenager was in the kitchen when he was hit in the hand and chest. According to information, the mother of the victim informed the agents that her son was hit by one of the shots at the scene.
At the time, agents were attacked when returning from an operation in the Morro do Banco community in an armored vehicle belonging to the corporation that was passing near the region. The agents did not retaliate, according to police.
In a note, the direction of the Municipal Hospital Lourenço reported that the patient underwent a surgical procedure and the health status of the victim is stable.
