In Valencia, Spain, a 15-year-old boy was hospitalized for a couple of months due to gambling addiction, radio station Onda Сero reported.

It is noted that this is the world’s first clinical case of hospitalization of a minor due to addiction to the game. Previously, there were similar cases, but they occurred with patients over 18 years of age.

The gamer played the Fortnite video game for almost 20 hours a day, went to bed at 5 am and skipped school. The boy stopped communicating with friends.

“The addiction has become similar to the addiction to heroin, cocaine and other chemicals,” explained psychiatrist Matias Real-Lopez.

After the death of a relative, the teenager’s addiction to play increased. For a complete detoxification, the teenager was admitted to the hospital. Doctors completely controlled his time spent in gadgets to communicate with friends.
