The Iranian General Staff announced, on Wednesday morning, that Tehran launched 200 ballistic missiles within half an hour, in its attack on Israel, on Tuesday, threatening to destroy Israel’s infrastructure on a large and comprehensive scale if it responded to the missile attack.
Previous Israeli estimates indicated that Iran launched about 180 ballistic missiles.
Iran said early on Wednesday morning that its missile attack on Israel “has ended unless further provocations occur,” while Israel and the United States pledged to respond to the attack as fears mount of the outbreak of a broader war.
Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqir Qalibaf said in a blog post on the “X” platform: “Only a pillar of Iran’s power appeared to the aggressors. We, with all our might, and based on the right of legitimate defense, stand against the advocates of war practiced by the Zionist regime.”
The Speaker of Parliament added, “Unexpected responses were designed against the enemy’s threats,” and continued, “If you had known what was prepared for you, you would have stopped threatening the proud Iran now.”
In turn, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi warned the United States against intervening after the missile attacks carried out by Tehran yesterday on Israel.
“Now Israel’s supporters bear a greater responsibility to stop the warmongers in Tel Aviv instead of foolishly intervening,” Iranian Tasnim News Agency quoted Araqchi as saying.
Araqchi added that if Israel responded, Iran’s response would be stronger, stressing that Tehran “exercised its right to self-defense based on Article 51 of the Charter, and exclusively targeted the military and security bases responsible for the genocide in Gaza and Lebanon.”
Washington said it would work with its ally Israel to ensure that Iran would face “severe consequences” because of the attack.
Iranian Chief of Staff, Major General Mohammad Bagheri, said, “The Revolutionary Guard Air Forces avenged many of the crimes of the Zionist entity (meaning Israel) with heroic and courageous operations,” and Bagheri confirmed that the missile attacks targeted 3 Israeli air bases, according to what the Iranian news agency “IRNA” reported, Today is Wednesday.
He pointed out that the past two months, for example, were difficult days for the Iranians and the axis of resistance following the assassination of the head of the Hamas political bureau, Ismail Haniyeh, in Tehran, and the repeated demands from the Americans and Iranians for restraint until a ceasefire could be reached in Gaza.
The Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed that “Tehran is fully prepared to take further defensive measures in order to protect its legitimate interests and defend its sovereignty against any military aggression and illegal use of force, and it will not hesitate to do so.”
The Foreign Ministry stated in a statement, “The Iranian armed forces, in line with the implementation of the inherent right to legitimate defense and in accordance with Article 51 of the United Nations Charter, and in response to the aggressive actions of the Zionist entity, decided to carry out a series of missile attacks on military and security targets and installations belonging to the Zionist entity.”
It stated that “Iran’s resort to the right of legitimate defense after a long period of restraint shows the responsible approach followed by Tehran towards regional and international peace and security at a time when the illegal acts and genocide carried out by the apartheid regime against the Palestinian people and its repeated military attacks continue.” On Lebanon and Syria.”
The Iranian General Staff announced, “Iran has not started any war over the past 45 years, but it will respond forcefully to any attack on it.”
The statement said: “The Islamic Republic of Iran has not started any war during the past 45 years and will never be the initiator of any war, but it will not fail to defend its legitimate rights forcefully against any party.”
The statement added: “It was necessary to respond appropriately to the illegal actions of the Zionist entity, through the assassination of Iranian advisors in Syria and Lebanon and the violation of the sovereignty of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the assassination of the martyr Mohammad Reza Zahedi and the martyr Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran and after that by assassinating the leaders of Hezbollah in Lebanon, especially.” Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, in conjunction with the massacre of the oppressed peoples of Lebanon and Palestine, and the disregard for the legitimate sovereign rights of the Islamic Republic of Iran.”
He continued: “In the event of direct intervention by countries supporting the Zionist regime in any attack on Iran, its bases and interests in the region will face a strong response, and the Zionist entity must anticipate the widespread and comprehensive destruction of its infrastructure if it responds to the attack.”
Earlier, Iranian Leader Ali Khamenei warned, in a blog post published in Hebrew on his account on the “X” platform, that the strikes against Israel would become “stronger and more painful.”
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian also stressed, “The missile attack on Israel was in defense of the interests of Iran and its citizens.”
Iranian government spokeswoman Fatima Mohajerani said: “Operation “True Promise 2” against the Zionist entity was a defense of our national interests within the framework of international laws, and we will respond to any party that exceeds its limits.”
The UN Security Council is scheduled to hold a meeting on the Middle East on Wednesday, and the European Union has called for an immediate ceasefire.
Meanwhile, Israeli Channel 12 said that at least 100 homes in the city of Hod Hasharon in central Israel were damaged due to the Iranian attack.
