Telegram has launched a new update to the popular messaging app with several innovations. One of them is a new saving mode that helps Android users manage their phone’s app performance and battery life. This feature will help owners of a less powerful smartphone to deal with battery drain problems and according to the company, it can reduce processor utilization by up to 40% and memory usage by up to 30%.

Compared to WhatsApp, Telegram is known as a colorful application with quite a few animations. Thus, in version 9.5, in the latest update, the Power Saving Mode mode found in the application settings was added. When enabled, it disables resource-intensive features such as autoplay of GIFs, various UI animations, illustrated stickers, and emoji to save battery life. The user also has the option to choose which effect he is willing to give up, and it is also possible that the battery saving mode will be activated automatically when the battery drops below a certain level.

Beyond that, Telegram also adds an option for a more precise adjustment of the playback speed. Instead of jumping in fixed files, so you can set any playback speed between 0.2 and 2.5 – and this is true for voice messages, video messages and any played content sent in the application. In Telegram groups, the exact time when the sent message was read will be displayed and premium users will be entitled to 10 more personalized emoji packs.

The Telegram update will be automatically distributed to all users through the app stores
