The regional costume worn by Sheynnis Palacios
The costume worn by Sheynnis Palacios in Antigua Guatemala is originally from San Pablo Tamahú, one of the 17 municipalities that make up the department of Alta Verapaz.
The traditional attire worn by women consists of three pieces: a red tocoyal, a predominantly red güipil with green and purple details on a white background. The fabric of the güipil includes marquesotes or squares that represent the earth and can be decorated with jugs, small pyramids, ducks or other animals. The cut is a loose skirt, pleated only at the waist, red with black lines, a detail that allows it to be distinguished from the cut of the municipality of Tactic.
This traditional costume reflects the rich cultural heritage of the region and the artisanal skills of the people of San Pablo Tamahú.
