A large number of devotees stepped on the fire and paid their dues at the Periyapavadi Ongaliyamman Temple Gundam Festival in Erode.
Ongaliyamman Temple
There is a famous Ongaliyamman temple in the Periyapavadi area of Erode Fort. The annual Gundam and Pongal festivals are held at this temple. Accordingly, this year’s Gundam festival started with the Ganapati Homam on the 6th. Special anointings were made to the Goddess daily for the occasion and pujas were held.
Plastered at the temple on the last 7th. At 6 pm on the 8th, the devotees went to the river Cauvery and took the theertham and came in procession to the temple. Then a special anointing was held for the goddess. The day before yesterday, at 4 pm, a lamp puja and mango picking was held. The bomb was then fired at 9 p.m.
Gundam Festival
The Gundam landing event took place at 6am yesterday. Earlier special pujas were performed for the kundam and the temple priest first descended the kundam. Following him, a large number of devotees descended on Kundam and paid their dues. Following that, the women performed Pongal in front of the temple and created for the goddess. On the occasion, Ongaliyamman graced the devotees in Sivashankari attire.
A large number of devotees from the Erode metropolitan area attended the darshan. The Amman Veedi Ula was held at 7 pm in a lion vehicle. The boat festival takes place today (Saturday) at 7 pm and the re-anointing takes place tomorrow (Sunday) at 10 am.
