A temporary worsening of the weather with the main characteristics of heavy rains and storms, which will be accompanied by a high frequency of lightning and local hailstorms, is predicted in areas of western and northern Greece, from midday on Saturday until the early hours of Sunday.
The weather system named “Petar” will affect the northern Ionian (mainly the Corfu-Paxos area), Epirus, western Macedonia and western Sterea, and from the late afternoon the northwestern Peloponnese, the western and northern Thessaly and central Macedonia. On the night of Saturday to Sunday the phenomena in the northwest country will weaken.
The National Meteorological Service has issued an Emergency Deterioration of Weather Bulletin (EDEK) and the Department of Civil Protection of the Region of Epirus asks the involved bodies (Municipalities, etc.) to be on constant alert to deal with any problems that may arise
