Time.news – A concert in the hall and on LaScalaTv, a presentation and a schedule designed together with RAI to remember Claudio Abbado, ten years after his death, the great musician who was Musical Director of the Teatro alla Scala from 1968 to 1986. He was at home here: he conducted Scala 362 opera performances, 217 concerts and 6 ballets, for a total of 567 evenings. Abbado passed away in Bologna on 20 January 2014.

On 27 January 2014, thousands of people gathered in Piazza della Scala in Milan – where he returned to conduct on 30 October 2012 – to listen to the notes of Beethoven’s Eroica funeral march performed in his memory by the Filarmonica della Scala conducted by Daniel Barenboim.

Il 22, 24 and 25 January Ingo Metzmacher conducts the Filarmonica della Scala as part of the Theater’s Symphonic Season in a concert dedicated to the memory of Abbado and the composer Luigi Nono, whose birth centenary is on January 29th. On the programme, together with Symphony No. 4 by Dmitri Ostakovi, Como una ola de fuerza y ​​luz by Nono with the pianist Pierre-Laurent Aimard, the soprano Serena Sàenz and the sound director Paolo Zavagna.

The piece was performed for the first time at the Teatro alla Scala June 28, 1972 with the direction of Claudio Abbado, the soprano Slavka Taskova Paoletti, Maurizio Pollini on the piano and Nono himself directing the sound. The magnetic tape was created in the Musical Phonology Studio in Milan with Marino Zuccheri. The song, composed in close collaboration with Abbado and Pollini, is dedicated to the Chilean revolutionary Luciano Cruz.

The concert will be broadcast live on LaScalaTv on 25 February and repeated at the Teatro Valli in Reggio Emilia on 13 February. The Teatro alla Scala participates in the schedule planned by RaiCultura to remember Claudio Abbado and for the occasion has released the rights relating to a series of video recordings of works recorded at the Piermarini. Rai5 will broadcast La Cenerentola in prime time on 16 February, Macbeth on 23 February, Don Carlo on 1 March and Un Ballo in Maschera on 8 March, while on the morning of 28 January Luigi Nono’s opera Al gran sole load of ‘Love.
