The Variante, equipped with a platform for double track in standard gauge, will improve services and railway relations with Granada, through a new route in the area around the town of Lojea. The Loja Bypass, nineteen kilometers long, is completed with two more sections, whose projects are under supervision: Loja Bypass-A-92 and Loja-Valle del Genil Bypass, with a total of fourteen kilometers; and with the section corresponding to the viaduct on the conventional Bobadilla-Granada line, already completed.

The route of the Loja Bypass, which runs approximately a third of its route in a tunnel or viaduct, solves the technical challenge and the preservation of the environment with a new itinerary to the south of the city and the A-92 highway, the slope of the Loja mountain range.

In its layout, the Manzanil viaducts (1.7 kilometers) stand out, in the Loja-A-92 Variant section; and Genil (794 meters) and Salar (693), which will allow safeguarding an area of special archaeological value, in the section that crosses the Genil Valley. In this same section is the Cerro de los Limones tunnel (1.3 kilometers), the longest of the Loja Bypass. Two tunnels have also been planned in the section that crosses the A-92, in the Sierra Gorda massif: Las Monjas (693 meters) and Los Abades (615).
