The integration of the railway into the urban center of Sant Feliu, carried out by the Ministry through Adif, constitutes one of the most relevant railway and urban planning works in the transformation of the local railway network in the metropolitan area of ​​Barcelona.

With a total budget of more than 120 million euros, the integration of the railway includes the partial burying of the tracks, complementary actions such as the construction of the new station and various railway facilities and materializing the permeability of the railway infrastructure of the Sant Vicen line. of Calders-Vilafranca-Hospitalet de Llobregat between the two sectors of the urban fabric, creating new citizen spaces.

With the works carried out to date, safety conditions for residents and railway operations have already increased, as the old level crossing at kilometer point 88,906 has been eliminated, located in an area with a high density of road traffic and traffic. pedestrians.

Integrated access at street level

The project for the new station includes an integrated access at street level and a lobby on the intermediate floor and platform level, reserving spaces to highlight the city’s railway heritage. The main actions included in the project are the construction of a new access building, with the floor at street level, which connects with the urban environment.

It will have a commercial space and, on this floor, the main communication hub with the lower underground levels will be housed, which will consist of an elevator, a fixed staircase and two escalators; the conditioning of the intermediate floor, which will function as the main lobby of the station, which will include the access turnstiles and the customer service office.

Two platforms

Configured as an open space, on both sides of the lobby there will be two vertical communication centers towards the platforms with a fixed staircase, an escalator and an elevator; conditioning of the platform level: each of them will have a communication core towards the intermediate floor lobby, areas intended for waiting for passengers and technical areas. There will be two platforms and, at both ends, evacuation centers will be located with a specially protected fixed staircase.

The proposal for the urbanization of the station surroundings proposes pedestrian and cyclist access as the basis. To this end, the arrival of public transport to Plaa de l’Estaci will be facilitated. The development will include the installation of a canopy with photovoltaic panels, and the preservation of the memory of the original station, which will be demolished as agreed with the Sant Feliu de Llobregat town council.

On the intermediate level and on the platforms, vinyls of historical images of the station and elements recovered from the old installation will be placed. Progress in the integration works Among the progress of the integration project, the mine excavation – underground – of the underground section, which began in October, stands out.

To date, 71 meters of the 654 meters in this sector have been drilled. The rest of the almost two kilometers of the integrated layout is made using screens, on which the covering slab is subsequently built. Of these, more than 850 meters have already been executed. In this area, the final section stands out, located on the border with the municipality of Sant Joan Desp, in which all the screens have already been completed and the last upper slab is being made, next to the Pahiss stream.
