Popular Tennessee Soccer Coach Arrested for Child Rape and Sexual Exploitation
Franklin, Tennessee – The Franklin Police Department has announced the arrest of a well-known Tennessee soccer coach, Camilo Hurtado Campos, on charges of rape of a child and sexual exploitation of a minor. Additional charges are expected to be filed, according to a Sunday news release from the Franklin Police Department.
Authorities were alerted to Campos’ activities after he left his phone at a restaurant, and employees discovered disturbing videos of unconscious boys being raped. Shocked by their findings, the employees immediately called the police.
Upon further investigation, authorities discovered hundreds of disturbing images and videos on the 63-year-old coach’s phone. Police allege that Campos recorded himself raping unconscious boys between the ages of 9 and 17. So far, at least 10 victims have been identified, with five more coming forward since the arrest.
Detectives believe that some victims may not even be aware that they were raped due to being in an unconscious state during the assaults. Franklin police are urging anyone who may have been associated with Campos or who has information about the case to come forward.
According to authorities, Campos has lived in Franklin for the past two decades and allegedly frequented school playgrounds to approach and recruit children for soccer. Many of these children were later invited to his home after gaining their trust.
Campos is currently being held in Franklin, Tennessee, with his bond set at $525,000. It is unclear if he has retained legal representation at this time.
The Franklin Police Department continues to investigate the case and is working diligently to identify all the victims involved. They are urging anyone with information to contact them immediately.
