But “the brat” of the circuit was hoping for a good little restaurant… Under a publication where Djoko, the world No. 7, poses with the won trophy, Nick Kyrgios therefore challenged his rival: “Where is my dinner”. Novak Djokovic then made an appointment with the Australian in New York, in the United States. “Sorry, I called all the restaurants in London on Sunday night and they are full. I’m buying you a dinner in New York,” the Serb quipped.
A way to chamber and a reminder that the two finalists have not always been the best friends in the world. Novak Djokovic knows indeed that he will probably not be able to honor the invitation. Not vaccinated against Covid out of conviction (which has already earned him expulsion from Australia in January), “Nole” cannot enter American territory, which in particular compromises his participation in the US Open (29 August to September 11).
Without a relaxation of health rules, Djokovic will therefore not play the last grand slam tournament. “I’m going to wait for good news from the United States because I would really like to go there,” he said after his London title.
