Tens of thousands took to the streets in Austria to protest against Corona measures. The demonstrations were peaceful. Still, there were many advertisements.

Around 40,000 people took to the streets in Austria during protests against Corona measures and the planned mandatory vaccination. The largest of the demonstrations took place in Graz on Saturday. The police reported that up to 30,000 participants marched through Austria’s second largest city with chants like “Peace, Freedom, No Dictatorship”. Mostly peaceful gatherings were also held in St. Pölten, Klagenfurt and Innsbruck. However, many people were reported for not wearing masks.

The government in Vienna wants to introduce a general compulsory vaccination in February. A draft law with details of the regulation is to be presented in the second week of December. A lockdown has been in effect across the country since last Monday. On the previous weekend there were mass demonstrations because of the measures in Vienna.

In Austria, the seven-day incidence has fallen slightly for a few days to 1,030 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants.
