Tirtha and Devendra Puja will be held at the Potramarai Pond during the peak season of the Meenakshi Amman Temple Chithrai Festival on the 12th day (Saturday) of the Chithirai Festival.

The world famous Madurai Meenakshi Amman Temple Chithirai Festival started with the flag hoisting on the 5th. Last year and the year before, due to corona infection, the wedding took place inside the temple without the permission of the devotees.
However, the city of Madurai is in the limelight as usual for this year’s festival, which has been critically acclaimed. During the festival, Goddess Meenakshi and Sundareswarar got up in different vehicles and walked around the streets of Madurai Masi to bless the devotees.
The Meenakshi Amman Thirukkalyanam, the hallmark of the Chithrai Festival, was held in a riotous manner yesterday morning.
In this context, the Meenakshi Amman Temple procession, the final event of the 11th day of the Chithrai Festival, started today at 6 am. At around 5 in the morning, Sundaresapperuman got up in a big chariot and Meenakshi got up in a small chariot. Tens of thousands of devotees attended and pulled the toad rope.
After 2 years, the Madurai festival is in full swing as devotees are allowed in the Chithirai stream.
The Theertham and Devendra Puja will be held at the Potramarai Pond during the peak period of the Meenakshi Amman Temple Chithrai Festival on the 12th day (Saturday) of the festival.
