The Regional Chamber of the Electoral Tribunal of the Judicial Branch of the Federation (TEPJF) confirmed the configuration of the next Legislature of the Mexico Citywith a majority of Morena.

Maria Silva Rojaspresiding judge of the Mexico City Court, said that the Instituto Electoral local “He made the assignments that corresponded to him and the decision was challenged before the Electoral Court of the entity.”

He stressed that the Opposition only raised grievances related to some documents that the parties sent to the electoral authorities and were not taken into account, but did not legally challenge the fact that there was an unconstitutional overrepresentation of Morena and its allies, which is why the allocation was confirmed.

The past August 2ndthe Electoral Court of Mexico City determined that the coalition Morena, PT y PVEM will have 43 legislators, just one short of the qualified majority that would allow it to make changes to the Constitution of the country’s capital.

The Opposition will be left with 23 seats in the Congress of Mexico City, so they will be a minority.

The local Court validated the distribution of plurinominals carried out by the Electoral Institute of that entity, with nine deputies for Morena and PAN each; the PVEM obtained four; PRI, PT and Citizen Movement with three each, and the PRD, which will maintain the local registry, will have a deputation by means of proportional representation.

The decision is not final, as the dissatisfied parties have the possibility of challenging the allocation of plurinominal deputies in Mexico City before the Superior Chamber of the Electoral Tribunal of the Judicial Branch of the Federation, so that body will have the final say.
