TEPJF confirms sanction against Gálvez for using the INE logo

The Upper room of the Electoral Tribunal of the Judicial Branch of the Federation (TEPJF) confirmed that the former presidential candidate, Xochitl Galvezillegally used the logo of the National Electoral Institute (INE) and ratified the application of a fine.

The judges determined that the use of the electoral body’s institutional image caused confusion among citizens and was not a matter of generic propaganda.

The Higher Court confirmed the sanction of 21 thousand 714 pesos to the coalition candidate Strength and Heart for Mexico.

The presidential candidate violated propaganda rules by using the logo of the INE in social media posts to allegedly suggest a campaign to prevent the use of social programs.

A few days ago, the Specialized Room had exonerated Xóchitl Gálvez for using the INE logo; however, by order of the Superior Court, it expanded its investigations and determined that the presidential candidate did violate the rules on the dissemination of propaganda during the campaign period.

The magistrates described as serious conduct that the candidate used the same INE logo to promote, since it generated confusion among the citizens, for which they imposed a fine of more than 10 thousand pesos to the candidate. PRI, PAN y PRD for failing to fulfill their duty of care.
