Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen criticized a controversial incident in the El Clásico match against Real Madrid.
Real Madrid defeated its rival Barcelona, 3-2, in the 32nd round of La Liga, at the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium.
The 28th minute witnessed a corner kick for Barça, which was met by Lamine Yamal with one deceptive touch, and goalkeeper Lunin pushed it away with difficulty, while it appeared that the ball had crossed the goal line.
The Barcelona players demanded that the goal be counted, but the referee stopped the match for several minutes awaiting the decision of the VAR, which confirmed that the ball had not crossed its entire circumference, after which he ordered the continuation of play.
Ter Stegen said in statements highlighted by Mundo Deportivo newspaper, “What a shame that they could not find an angle to check Yamal’s goal.”
He added, “This industry is driven by a lot of money, and I cannot understand how money cannot be provided to implement goal-line technology that is available in other leagues.”
Regarding the penalty kick awarded against Cobarci in favor of Vasquez, from which Real Madrid’s first goal came, he commented, “I think Vasquez was smart with the penalty kick, and I think he tried to look for it.”
He concluded, “Everything was in our favor, but we were not able to get the three points in the end.”
