Tere Jiménez inaugurates a forum for entrepreneurs to strengthen their skills

The governor of Aguascalientes, Tere Jiménezinaugurated the Forum “Sin T-MEC no hay Nearshoring”, which brought together businessmen and businesswomen from Aguascalientes to exchange experiences on the importance of Treaty between Mexico, the United States and Canadaas it facilitates investment and trade between these countries.

During the event held at the International University of Innovation (UNII), Tere Jiménez highlighted the benefits that the T-MEC has brought to the country, since for the first time in twenty years, Mexico has become the main commercial partner of the United States.

“During the current administration, more than 1.4 billion dollars of foreign direct investment have been announced with 28 new projects that represent the creation of more than 12 thousand new jobs in Aguascalientes. We must be prepared for the changes that are coming in the international scenario if we want our state to maintain this growth dynamic,” the governor stressed.

The head of the Secretariat of Economic Development, Science and Technology (Sedecyt), Esaú Garza de Vega, pointed out that this event is of great relevance, since the next review of the T-MEC is coming in July 2026 and it is necessary to do an analysis and a common front regarding the strategies for renegotiation.

Mónica Mendoza Jáquez, president of the Automotive Industry Group of Aguascalientes (GIRAA), explained that the event was organized by the group she heads, with the aim of having businessmen exchange ideas and listen to experts on the subject of international trade, exports and nearshoring, for two days.

María de Lourdes Margain Fuentes, rector of UNII, reiterated her commitment to ensuring that young people have the skills and abilities required by the global market. She mentioned that UNII has innovative courses such as Data Science and Artificial Intelligence Engineering, Aerospace Engineering and Space Exploration, the Bachelor of Law and Artificial Intelligence, among others.

“I thank the governor for her firm commitment to educational and business development in the region. Her strategies are opening up new opportunities and strengthening the economy. I invite you to take advantage of this forum to discuss, learn and create strategies that strengthen our position in the global market,” concluded the UNII rector.

Also present at the event were Juan Carlos Baker Pineda, General Director and Founding Partner of Ansley International Consultants; Javier Alejandro de la Cruz Ortiz, President of the UNII Council, and Armando Ávila Moreno, President of the Aguascalientes Industrial Cluster (CLIA).
