Cuddalore: Two women were killed in a car accident near Indiranagar in Neyveli; 5 people were seriously injured.

Cuddalore District Neyveli There are numerous roadside shops on both sides of the Chennai-Kumbakonam National Highway in the Indira Nagar area. In this case today (Feb.19) afternoon Neyveli Srinivasan’s wife Vanitha (40) and his daughter Janani (15) were on their way to a roadside vegetable shop on Indranagar’s Kamatchi Amman Temple Street to buy vegetables.

The car driven by Akbar Pasha (62), son of Abdul Suban, was heading towards Vadalur from Panruti when it unexpectedly hit both of them at lightning speed. Vanitha died on the spot. Janani was badly injured. The car lost control and was parked on the road by Chinnaswamy’s wife Muthammal (50), a resident of Indira Nagar. Alternative accommodation Krishnan’s wife Rani (45), Sundaramoorthy’s wife Thangam (52) from Katiyambalayam Mariamman Kovil Street, Kumarasan (32), son of Sarangapani from Periyakurichi area and Chinnasamy (65) son of Ponnan from an alternative residence were involved in the accident.

Seeing this, many people including the public ran away and rescued the 6 injured in the accident and sent them to Cuddalore Government Hospital by ambulance. Muthammal died on the way. Two people were killed and five others were injured in the accident and were admitted to Cuddalore Government Hospital. And the bodies of the two deceased Neyveli Township police seized and sent him to Kurinjipadi Government Hospital for autopsy.

Police have registered a case and are investigating the incident. Also, the driver of the accident, Akbar Pasha, was injured and police rushed him to Cuddalore Government Hospital.

People suffer due to non-completion of road works: VKD road works (Vikravandi, Kumbakonam, Thanjavur road) have been lying idle for many years causing a series of accidents. It is noteworthy, therefore, that the people and community activists of the area continue to demand that the National Highway road works be completed as soon as possible to control the series of accidents and that immediate action be taken to dispose of the occupied shops along the road.
