A road accident in North Sikkim has left 16 soldiers dead.
An army vehicle carrying soldiers met with an accident in the Jema area of North Sikkim this afternoon. 16 soldiers who were traveling in it died. 4 players are injured and undergoing treatment. The Indian Army has issued a statement that the accident occurred when the vehicle carrying the soldiers lost control and fell into a ditch.
Defense Minister Rajnath Singh has condoled the death of soldiers and said, “The death of 16 soldiers in a road accident has caused deep pain in my heart. The nation is grateful for their service and dedication,” he tweeted.
He expressed his deepest condolences to the families of the deceased soldiers and prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured soldiers.
