The “Reds” are only fourth from the matches in the top 6
CSKA has no chance for first place, statistics show. The Swiss CIES publishes the match data for several championships, including the Bulgarian one, using the renowned Wyscout. And there comes the appalling 78.4% accurate pass rate of Nestor el Maestro’s team. Or translated into plain language, one in three is inaccurate. This gives CSKA only 13th place among the entire elite. Only “Krumovgrad” (77.7), “Pirin” (77.5) and “Eter” (76), or two teams that are fighting tooth and nail to stay in the elite group, are worse.
Far from the “reds” in this indicator are “Ludogorets” (86.5), “Levski” (84.9) and “Loko” (South) (84).
Certainly, this statistic includes the clearances in front of the goalkeeper, as well as the back passes, which have been a trademark of the “Reds” since the beginning of the season. Perhaps with the most forward passes is the goalkeeper Gustavo Busato at the expense of midfielders and forwards.
This suggests that the problem in CSKA’s game is not in the attack, but rather in the midfield, which is endlessly ineffective.
The only indicators in which CSKA is in the top three of all teams is in passes allowed in their own third in front of the goal and made in the opponent’s third. In defense, with an average of 24.4 per match, the team is behind “Ludogorets” – 17, and “Levski” – 19.2. In the attack, the indicator is 39.9, “Ludogorets” is 53.2, and “Levski” – 44.7.
In terms of accurate shots on average per match, the team is fourth with 5.0, which is worse than “Ludogorets” – 7, “Levski” – 5.3, and “Botev” (South) – 5.2. It is in the same place in terms of accurate shots allowed in the own goal – 3.1. “Ludogorets” is with 1.9, “Levski” with 2.7 and “Arda” with 2.9.
The performance in possession of the ball is also quite weak. CSKA is only in sixth place with 52.8%. Here the leaders are “Levski” – 60.9, and “Ludogorets” – 60.2.
And so comes the most disheartening statistic. Since the beginning of the season against the teams that occupy the first 6 places in the ranking, CSKA has a total of 7 matches, of which they have won two, two have been drawn and they have conceded 3 losses with a goal difference of 6:8. Or that averages 1.14 points per game. And this is only the fourth achievement of all the teams that are currently in the fight for the first six, which should determine the champion.
The first is “Ludogorets”, which in 6 games has taken 13 points, or 2.17 on average per game with a goal difference of 9.3. In second place at the moment is FC CSKA 1948, which in 5 matches has 2 wins, 2 draws and only one loss, which is 1.40 points per game and a goal difference of 5:5. Third is the until recently leader in the championship “Black Sea” with 2 wins, 3 draws and 2 losses, or 1.29 points on average per game and 7:8 goal difference. “Levski” and “Loko” (Pd) with 1 point on average per meeting, with the “blues” in 7 matches having 2 wins and a draw, and the Plovdiv team – with 1 win and 3 draws in 6 matches. “Levski” has a goal difference of 7:7, and “Loko” 5:5.
Today at 17:30 CSKA hosts “Arda” in the 1/4-final of the Bulgarian Cup.
