Terrorism: The Burkinabè government favors culture as another “response factor” (minister)

Manga, September 7, 2023 (AIB) – The Minister in charge of Culture, Rimtalba Jean Emmanuel Ouédraogo, indicated, Thursday, that the government of Burkina Faso favors “culture as a factor of response and resilience” in addition to military actions , to deal with the security crisis and its consequences which affect the daily lives of Burkinabè people, noted the AIB.

“In response to this security crisis imposed on us with its corollary of humanitarian distress, the Transitional Government has favored, in addition to military-security actions, culture as a factor of response and resilience,” declared the Minister of Defense. Communication, Culture, Arts and Tourism, Rimtalba Jean Emmanuel Ouédraogo.

Mr. Ouédraogo spoke Thursday in Manga, on the occasion of the launch of a series of training courses in arts and crafts organized by the government for the benefit of 500 internally displaced people across the country.

Dyeing, batik, beading, traditional saponification and acting are, among others, the professions covered by these sessions.

For Rimtalba Jean Emmanuel Ouédraogo, beyond the assistance that internally displaced people benefit from from the Transition government, “the dynamic is to support them in being able to be autonomous”.

And in this sense, “art and crafts are promising sectors which offer permanent opportunities for learning trades and which remain major alternatives in the promotion of self-employment”, he said. -he says.

“In these difficult times in the history of Burkina Faso, endogenous mechanisms inspired by our values ​​are decisive in the diversification of sources of employment and wealth creation,” added the minister.

Rimtalba Jean Emmanuel Ouédraogo invited beneficiaries to full participation and attendance so that learning can produce the expected effects.

For eight years, Burkina Faso has been in the grip of a security and humanitarian crisis, caused by terrorists.
