jpnn.comJAKARTA – Densus 88 arrested one suspect in a terrorism crime in Malang, East Java.
Head of Public Relations Division of the Indonesian National Police, Brigadier General Trunoyudo Wisnu Andiko, said that the suspect with the initials HOK (19) planned to carry out a suicide bombing targeting a place of worship in Batu, East Java.
Trunoyudo stated that HOK was arrested on Jalan Langsep, Sisir Subdistrict, Baru Malang District, on Wednesday (31/7) at 19.15 WIB.
“Based on the results of the investigation, it is known that the suspect planned to carry out a suicide bombing using high-explosive materials,” he said in his statement in Jakarta, Thursday.
He revealed that the male suspect HOK, a student, was a sympathizer of the terrorist group Daulah Islamiyah, which is affiliated with ISIS.
“HOK planned to carry out suicide bombings at two places of worship in Malang, East Java,” he said.
In addition to arresting the suspect, Densus 88 also secured several people for further questioning. To date, three people have been arrested by the East Java Regional Police, including suspect HOK.
