Tesla is going to appoint J.B. Straubel, the CEO and founder of e-waste recycling company Redwood Materials, to the company’s board, according to a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) on Thursday. Straubel founded his recycling venture in Carson City, Nevada, while still serving as Tesla’s CTO in 2017, and left the automaker to focus on it in 2019.
