Tesla Releases Updated Model 3 Sedan in North America

An updated version of Tesla’s Model 3 sedan, previously released in markets across Europe, the Middle East, and China, is now available in North America. Reportedly codenamed “Highland” during development, the new model introduces several noticeable tweaks to Tesla’s mainstream electric sedan.

The front end of the car has been redesigned, with a sleeker hood and low-profile headlights optimized for maximum aerodynamics, potentially improving the vehicle’s range. Additionally, the updated model is available in two new colors, Stealth Grey and Ultra Red.

The 2024 Model 3 refresh is now the only version listed for ordering in Tesla’s configurator, offering two versions: a Long Range All-Wheel Drive model with dual motors and a cheaper Rear-Wheel Drive version. The option to order the former top-of-the-line Performance model is currently unavailable.

The Long Range 2024 Model 3 boasts an EPA estimated range of up to 341 miles, an improvement from its predecessor’s 333 miles. The rear-wheel model is still listed at 272 miles of range.

Despite the improvements, both versions have the same starting price as last year’s models. However, there are some notable changes in top speed; the new 2024 Model 3 has a top speed of 125 mph, whereas the 2023 rear-wheel model topped out at 140 mph, the Long Range reached 145 mph, and the Performance model could manage up to 162 mph.

Tesla highlights several upgrades for the new model, including new acoustic glass for a quieter cabin, improved ride quality with updated suspension tuning, “more sophisticated” materials for the interior, ventilated seats, customizable ambient lighting, a brighter center touchscreen with smaller bezels and better contrast, and an upgraded sound system with up to 17 speakers.

Overall, the updated 2024 Model 3 aims to provide a more refined and technologically advanced driving experience for North American customers. With its improved range and enhanced features, the new model is expected to attract a significant amount of interest from electric vehicle enthusiasts.
