Test series against Bangladesh: South Africa excludes players from playing in the IPL

Cape Town: The South African squad for the Test series against Bangladesh has been announced, excluding players from the IPL. Marco Johnson, Aidan Markram, Lungi Engidi, Kagiso Rabada and Razi Wander Dawson have been left out of the 15 – member Test squad. Johnson, Mark, Ngidi, Dawson and Rabada played in the Test series against India.

“Cricket South Africa does not have the right to restrict the freedom of players to play in the IPL,” the board said in a statement. ODI team members Quinton de Kok, David Miller and Dwayne Pretorius also have IPL contracts. However, with the three-match ODI series starting on Friday and ending on the 23rd, there are no other obstacles for the IPL teams to play.

The ODI series will be played on the 18th, 20th and 23rd. The Test series runs from March 31 to April 12. Earlier, South African Test team captain Dean Elgar had suggested that players should make a quick decision on whether to play for the country or play in the IPL. The 15th season of IPL will start on March 26 with the CSK-KKR match.
