Abhimanyu Iswaran may get a place as a substitute as Rohit Sharma is doubtful for the Test series against Bangladesh.
The Indian cricket team has visited Bangladesh for a series of 3 ODIs and 2 Tests. Bangladesh beat India in the first two ODIs and won the series 2-0. The 3rd ODI between these two teams will be held tomorrow (Dec. 10). After this match, India will play a 2-match Test series against Bangladesh. The first Test match between these two teams will start on December 14
Meanwhile, India’s captain Rohit Sharma withdrew from the third ODI against Bangladesh due to injury. It is noteworthy that Rohit Sharma, who did not field due to a finger injury while ‘fielding’ in the 2nd match, came as the 9th player in the batting order. In this case, Rohit Sharma, who withdrew from the 3rd ODI against Bangladesh, is doubtful to participate in the Test series as well.
Perhaps if Rohit Sharma is ruled out of the Test match, India ‘A’ captain Abhimanyu Iswaran may be fielded as his replacement. Hailing from West Bengal, he has scored centuries in both Test matches against Bangladesh ‘A’ team. Abhimanyu Easwaran is likely to get a place in the Tests on the basis that he is a good opener and in good form and will be a perfect replacement for Rohit Sharma in Tests. It is also said that Umran Malik may be selected to replace the injured fast bowler Mohammad Shami.
