The murder of a young man in Vattukkottai has sparked outrage and demand for justice as the Officer-in-Charge of the Vattukkottai Police Station and the police officers involved in the case have recorded their testimonies.
Nagarasa Alex, a young man who was arrested by the Vattukkottai police, died on November 19 while being tortured. The proceedings related to the case were conducted in the Jaffna Magistrate’s Court by Judge A.A. in the presence of Anandaraja.
During the hearing on Tuesday, the Officer-in-Charge and the police officers testified regarding the events leading to Alex’s death. The judge ordered the Jaffna court registrar to submit the report of the legal medical officer of the Tellippa hospital and the report of the doctor who admitted and treated the young man at the Jaffna teaching hospital.
The judge also adjourned the case to January 02, stating that the order regarding the death investigation will be issued on that day.
