Gaël, Slava, Marie-Françoise or Hamid. All these back-to-work employees who worked at the Tête Haute brewery gave their first name to a beer, designed by them with the help of a zythologist (beer expert) and produced in 3,500 copies (1). A way to punctuate their passage through this unusual integration company before returning to employment or training.

Founded in 2018 by two thirty-year-olds who already produced beer as a passion, it is the first in France to rely on this activity to restore confidence in people far from employment: young people without a diploma or network, people who have gone through street, beneficiaries of minimum social benefits, employees experiencing burnout or weakened health…

“We both wanted to create our own business, but there was no question of founding yet another microbrewery, we wanted to add meaning to it », says Fabien Marzelière, former specialist educator, who embarked on the adventure of social entrepreneurship with his big brother Samuel, former construction site manager (2). «In this brewery, which was not yet a medium used by those involved in integration through economic activity, we wanted to give people pride again with a product known to all.»

“Rediscover a taste for work”

This company of 25 employees, including 8 in integration, has already supported around fifteen people, who have moved into sectors as varied as early childhood, industry, transport or sales (3). In the production area of the company based in Le Cellier, near Nantes, Chantal takes care of the daily production (4,000 hectoliters per year).

At 49, she has a busy professional life: ten years as a driving school instructor, seasonal contracts in market gardening, temporary assignments in the agri-food industry, often working odd hours. «But today, I want a stable and more fulfilling jobshe confides. Here, I really enjoy working again. »

Multiple projects

She will soon begin training in office automation to find an administrative position in a company. Mathieu, 28, has just obtained a permanent contract as head of IT maintenance and web development in a transport company. After high school, he worked in a call center before becoming unemployed. «At Tête haute, I had the chance to carry out a rewarding activity which allows me to meet a lot of people, in a warm and friendly atmosphere. », confides this IT enthusiast, who experienced this passage through the brewery as a springboard.

The young integration company does not intend to stop there. In spring 2024, she will open Mashup, a 90-seat integration restaurant with a microbrewery on the island of Nantes. Then, in 2026, its production site will move to a Nantes district currently undergoing reconversion (Doulon Gohards). In the medium term, it hopes to create around fifty positions, half of which are integration.
