Thalassery Additional Sub-Court dismissed K Sudhakaran’s bankruptcy petition along with a defamation case. The defamation case was filed in connection with his arrest in the Jayarajan attempt to murder case. The court has also ordered Sudhakaran to deposit Rs 3.43 lakh within 15 days for the defamation case.
In 1998, Sudhakaran demanded compensation for which he approached the court and filed a bankruptcy petition. The UDF government took a favorable stand and the court accepted Sudhakaran’s plea. However, last year the government argued that Sudhakaran has assets of more than Rs 1 crore and is receiving an MP salary. As a result, the court ruled that Sudhakaran was not bankrupt.
The government had also asked the High Court to hear Sudhakaran’s plea seeking acquittal in the EP attempt to murder case.
