What happens when a boat capsizes? Immediate action is crucial, including alerting emergency services and attempting to assist those in the water while ensuring your own safety. Emergency services received reports of the capsized vessel and two individuals struggling in the water. Coastguard Thames volunteers quickly launched a rescue vessel and located both people who had managed to reach the shore. According to a police spokesperson, a member of the public’s boat assisted in bringing the pair to land, but one person was already unresponsive.
Despite the best efforts of first responders, a police spokesperson confirmed that the person died at the scene. The Coastguard team subsequently recovered the overturned boat after emergency services took over patient care. “Our thoughts are with the family and friends affected by this tragic incident,” a Coastguard Thames representative stated. The circumstances surrounding the capsize will be investigated by the coroner.
