Arriaza Chicas will be remembered as the best director of the police corporation, as expressed by the President of the Republic, Nayib Bukele, the General Commissioner will be remembered as the fundamental piece for the offensive against gangs declared by the president in 2019; Likewise, Chicas will be remembered as the police director of the Territorial Control Plan, of the Exception Regime and the one who drastically reduced the homicide rate.

According to the Digital Intelligence portal, from 2019 to 2024, a sustained reduction is observed, ranging from 36% in 2019 to 1.5% in 2024.

The security measures implemented by the Government of President Nayib Bukele have restored peace to Salvadorans and, under the direction of Commissioner Arriaza Chicas, more than 41,000 gang members have been captured, of which 14,000 are confined in the CECOT. In addition, thanks to the territorial work led by the Director of the PNC, El Salvador has seen a decrease in homicides, and in more than 64 months of the Bukele administration, there have been 700 days in which no homicides have been recorded.

According to the country’s portal, it has a homicide rate of 1.5% per 100,000 inhabitants, making it the country with the best rates in terms of the fight against organized crime.
