Former ‘That ‘70s Show’ actor Danny Masterson sentenced to 30 years-to-life in prison for rape

Actor Danny Masterson, popular for his role in the hit sitcom “That ‘70s Show,” was received by North State Prison in California this Wednesday after being sentenced to 30 years-to-life for raping two women.

Masterson, 47 years old, faced three counts of rape. The initial jury failed to reach a verdict in December 2022, leading to a mistrial. However, after a retrial earlier this year, Masterson was found guilty of two of the three counts on May 31. He has been held in Los Angeles County Jail while post-sentencing hearings were held and issues resolved, including the turnover of all guns owned by Masterson.

His wife, actor Bijou Phillips, filed for divorce after the guilty verdict following a nearly 12-year marriage. Both incidents occurred at Masterson’s Hollywood-area home in 2003, during the height of his fame due to the success of “That ‘70s Show.” Masterson’s lawyers have stated that they plan to appeal the conviction.

It will be more than 25 years before Masterson will be eligible for parole. Masterson starred with Ashton Kutcher, Mila Kunis, and Topher Grace in “That ‘70s Show” from 1998 to 2006.
