Delhi: Former player and commentator Aakash Chopra has come out against former Indian coach Ravi Shastri’s remarks about Test cricket. Chopra questions the notion that only the top teams are enough for the mainstream of Test cricket. Chopra says that Shastri’s suggestions will not benefit cricket in any way. Moreover, Chopra says such explanations will destroy cricket.

Shastri suggested that only the top six teams in the rankings are enough for the mainstream. Shastri also argued that if the matches are not arranged in such a way, Test cricket will have no life. But Chopra came out against this statement. Chopra suggested that Test matches should be arranged so that all teams can play. Chopra’s words… “If it is decided that only the top six teams in the rankings will play Tests, it will not benefit cricket. Test cricket needs to be saved. The test should remain forever. Because it is the most important part of cricket,” said Chopra.

“If only six teams play Tests, what will the rest do? They have nothing special to do. They will probably come up later. That’s how other teams have emerged in the past,” said Chopra. Chopra also asked who will select those six teams to play international Test cricket.

Chopra also talked about ODI matches. “I have seen the suggestion that ODI cricket should be limited to ICC tournaments only. But, in that case, it is better not to keep this format,” said Chopra.
