The new month brings with it some changes for your finances. Among other things, several important deadlines are coming to an end. An overview.

But hurry now: Whether it’s tax returns, heating inspections or Corona aid – various deadlines expire in September. But things are also changing for travelers and those with health insurance. We have summarized the most important changes.

If you would like to receive federal funding for your new heating system, you will have to follow the classic order again from September 1st. This means: first submit the funding application and then start installing the heating system. The transitional arrangement, according to which you can also apply for funding retrospectively, is expiring.

The application requires a supply and service contract with the trades company with a suspensive or resolutive condition. This means that your contract only becomes valid once you have received the funding approval.

In addition, from the end of September, the first applicants will be able to submit invoices and receipts for projects for which they have applied for a grant. This will be done digitally. Among the first to be allowed to submit the application in February are owners of single-family homes who use the house themselves. The documents will then be checked and the money is expected to be paid out at the end of October.

Anyone who has to file an income tax return should really hurry up. You can only do so without paying a late fee until September 2nd. But don’t worry: Here we have put together a list of ways you can get your tax return done at the very last minute. And you may not even be required to file it. Read here when that is the case.

Back to basics: New scanners at airports were supposed to make it unnecessary to decant shampoo, sunscreen, etc. into small bottles, but a new EU regulation now provides for the opposite. From September 1st, liquids in hand luggage may again not exceed 100 milliliters.

This affects all airports in the EU as well as in Iceland, Switzerland and Norway – regardless of whether they are equipped with X-ray scanners or the new computer tomography scanners (CT scanners). The reason for this is that too many devices are prone to errors (read more here).

Owners of large apartment buildings with more than ten units had to take action last year, and in 2024 owners of houses with six to nine apartments will also have to do so: they must have a hydraulic balancing carried out on central heating systems that run on gas. This is not necessary for apartment buildings with up to five residential units. The same applies to single- and two-family houses.

Hydraulic balancing ensures that all radiators or heating circuits in a building are supplied with heat evenly. A specialist adjusts the heating system so that each radiator or heating circuit receives exactly the amount of heating water it needs to achieve the desired room temperature. This optimizes the operation of the system and leads to more efficient energy consumption.

Anyone who is willing to donate organs will soon be able to declare this more easily: By September 30, insured persons will be able to submit declarations for or against organ donation via their health insurance company’s app. Since March, declarations of willingness to donate organs and tissue have been able to be entered in the central online register using the online function of the ID card.
