Ajinkya Rahane is the senior player of the Indian Test team. Rahane, who has been the vice-captain of the Test team, has also been a star player for the Indian team in Test cricket.
Ajinkya Rahane, who has played in 78 international Tests for India, has amassed 4756 runs with 12 centuries and 24 fifties. Virat Kohli has been the captain of the Indian team since his captaincy in non-playing matches.
During the 2020-2021 tour of Australia, Virat Kohli returned to India after playing only in the first Test, and Rahane led the Indian team to the series and won the series.
But Ajinkya Rahane, who has been batting poorly in recent times, has come under fire. Rahane has scored in the last 20 Test innings: 4, 37, 24, 1, 0, 67, 10, 7, 27, 49, 15, 5, 1, 61, 18, 10, 14, 0, 35, 4.
Rahane has scored just two fifties in the last 20 Test innings. Didn’t turn that into a big inning either. The idea was not to include him in the first Test against New Zealand. But because the goalie did not play, he was dressed up because he just had to do the captaincy. But he also scored only 35 and 4 in that match.
While he was batting, Shreyas Iyer took the opportunity to score a century and a half in the inaugural Test. There is still Hanuma Vihari. The competition between the players in the Test team is fierce if he comes too.
Rahane was dropped in the 2nd Test against New Zealand. So it is expected that Rahane will be sidelined from the Indian team as a whole. It has been reported that Rohit Sharma has been appointed as the vice-captain of the Indian Test team for the tour of South Africa. So Rahane is expected to be sidelined altogether.
In this situation, Zaheer Khan has talked about getting Rahane back in the Indian Test team.
