Bangkok: A friend shares the last picture before the death of the late Australian spin legend Shane Warne. The picture was taken by Vaughan’s close friend Thomas Hall and shared on Instagram. Vaughn is seen laughing at a villa in Koh Samui, Thailand.

It was in this villa that Vaughn was found lying on the ground by friends on Friday night. Vaughn was found unconscious when friends arrived to invite him to dinner. He was rushed to a nearby hospital but died later. The Thai police said yesterday that there was nothing unusual about Vaughn’s death and that the cause of death was a heart attack.

Police said details of the post-mortem report had been passed on to Vaughn’s family and that his family had accepted the findings of the report, and that Vaughn’s body would soon be flown to the Australian Consulate, and from there to his hometown.

Hall, who is also the chief executive of the Sporting News website, had earlier revealed what Vaughn had said earlier. Hall said Vaughan had asked him how he would watch Pakistan-Australia Test TV in Thailand, and that he had returned to the room excitedly after watching the game for a while, picking up some clothes. Hall said he and Shane Warne had worked closely with Sporting News and had been gifted ODI caps at the 2005 Ashes and the 2008 IPL.

Vaughan’s body will be flown to Australia in two to three weeks, after which he will be laid to rest at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. Vaughan, who has taken 708 wickets in Test cricket, is the second highest wicket-taker of all time in Tests.
