Berlin – The chocolate Easter bunnies are running out. The confectionery industry has just announced that there will probably not be enough raw materials available for production. The main reason: long-established supply chains no longer work, and container ships do not have enough freight capacity. For the same reason, Ikea Germany boss Denis Balslev announced in December 2021 that he would raise prices. They are expected to increase by nine percent on average at the multinational furnishing group. The list of those affected by disrupted supply chains is long. Craft businesses, the construction industry, the timber trade and the car industry: they all complain about excessive transport costs and long delivery times. The effects can now also be clearly felt by consumers in Germany.
