The Vélos d’Or 2023 ceremony, which will be held on October 24, will reward the best cyclist of the season.
In this new formula, the Vélos d’Or revealed the 10 names that make up the finalists in the “Classicsfor both men and women. The two winners will be elected best cyclist of the season, in this category.
The 5 finalists in the categoryMen’s Classicsare: Remco Evenepoel, Mads Pedersen, Tadej Pogacar, Wout Van Aert and Mathieu Van der Poel. The notable absentee from this list is Jonas Vingegaard, winner of the last Tour de France. The Dane has only competed in the Grande Boucle and is currently taking part in his first Vuelta.
The 5 finalists in the categoryWomen’s ClassicsThey are: Elisa Long Borghini, Alison Jackson, Lotte Kopecky, Marlen Reusser and Demi Vollering.
Other categories, including theRoute France», put French cycling in the spotlight. Thibaut Pinot, who retires at the end of the season, is named in this category, which must elect the best French cyclist of the season (all genres combined). Christophe Laporte, Victor Lafay, Valentin Madouas and Juliette Labous complete the list.
