The 11th International Jerusalem Winner Marathon kicks off
In cold and challenging weather, about 25,000 participants are expected to participate today in the 11th Jerusalem Winner Marathon – the largest international marathon in the country
As part of the marathon and half marathon preparations, they will receive special blankets to balance their body temperature at the end of the run.
Rain sheds were spread out along the route and the marathon island will be able to warm up with hot drinks to be distributed and soups to be placed in Sucker Garden and at various stands. The weather can affect the allotment hours. In the event of any changes the marathon participants will be updated accordingly.
Against the background of the war in Ukraine, a delegation of about 40 immigrants and refugees from Ukraine who have arrived in Jerusalem in recent days will run. The delegation will run at this end as a sign of solidarity with their homeland Ukraine and its participants will receive running kits, which include running shoes, a marathon shirt, sports shorts and socks, courtesy of SAUCONY. In the full marathon, Valentina Verska, a Ukrainian runner who won many prizes, escaped the horrors of the war and came to participate in the Jerusalem marathon.
The marathon includes six events: a full marathon, a half marathon, a 10 km race, a 5 km race, a family race – 1.7 km and a special social race – 800 meters.
The Mayor of Jerusalem, Moshe Leon, invites everyone to experience and enjoy a sports festival that takes place throughout the city, accompanied by performances, bands, stages and a variety of colorful activities.
The Jerusalem Municipality calls on everyone on the marathon island to maintain their health, safety, order and cleanliness

The 11th International Jerusalem Winner Marathon – the start of the marathon and the half marathon
At 06:45, the mayor of Jerusalem, Moshe Leon, will start the end of the half marathon from the Clock Junction (corner of Eliezer Kaplan and Ruppin streets) and at 07:00, Leon will start the full marathon. Thousands of runners will run in these allotments.
