The 17th APA Congress, a new start in cooperation between African public ministries (Mr. Daki)

by times news cr

This 17th APA Congress is an opportunity to strengthen communication links, to strengthen exchanges and the sharing of ideas and experiences between the presidents of African public ministries, to examine a range of points relating to action of public ministries, and to emphasize the achievements accomplished by the APA during this mandate, added Mr. Daki in a statement to the press at the end of the General Assembly of the Association.

This conclave, he continued, also makes it possible to lay the foundations for strengthened cooperation between African countries with a view to overcoming the different facets of crime.

It is also, he said, an appropriate framework likely to open up new prospects for cooperation, promote continuing training and ensure the sharing of experiences between African countries.

Referring to the election of a new management structure for the APA, Mr. Daki stressed that “we hope that this will breathe new life into the action of public ministries across the Continent.”

For his part, the new president of the APA, Kenyan Renson Ingonga, expressed his strong desire to work tirelessly so that the Association moves forward and achieves higher objectives.

He also welcomed the establishment of a permanent headquarters of the APA in Morocco, noting that this decision should improve the services provided by the Association.

For his part, the outgoing president of the APA, Mohamed Chaouki, insisted on the importance of judicial cooperation between African countries with a view to combating cross-border crimes, particularly human trafficking and cybercrime.

The APA offers a legal framework capable of bringing together African prosecutors and providing training for the benefit of public prosecutors in Africa, said Mr. Chaouki, adding that the APA meetings will undoubtedly have a positive impact on pan-African cooperation, not only in the judicial field but beyond.

It should be remembered that Morocco was elected head of the General Secretariat of the APA during the General Assembly of this African body, held this Wednesday in Marrakech.

The APA Executive Committee also approved the establishment of the permanent headquarters of the Association in Morocco.

Furthermore, the presidency of the APA was entrusted for a renewable two-year mandate to Kenya, which thus succeeds Egypt, while the treasury returned to Zambia.
