This is the good news announced by the president of the Festival Racines Mahi-hwendo, Jean Gounongbé, who is already reassuring of a successful organization. According to him, the organizing committee that he chairs, is already working hard to make this celebration of identity exceptional, which each year acquires a certain audience. It will be a warm moment since this year, it is the town of Kétou that will vibrate to the sounds and rhythms of Mahi cultural riches. Thus, in order to celebrate this festival with pomp, the organizing committee gives total assurance to the populations and at the same time launches an appeal to the entire Mahi community of Benin and the diaspora to mark the event with their presence. As in the past, the Roots Mahi-hwendo Festival is attracting attention. The 2022 edition took place in Agonlin-houégbo, municipality of Zagnanado in the presence of the President of the National Assembly, Louis Vlavonou and several other executives of the Republic. Several activities are planned for the unification of daughters and sons of this cultural area and also to perpetuate this festival.

It should be noted that the creation of the ”Maxi-Hwendo” Festival was made to maintain unity between the sons and daughters of the Mahi cultural area. It was created in 1997. It is a melting pot to affirm and exhibit to the face of the world, the socio-economic and cultural potentialities of the Mahi cultural area.
