The Central Bank of West African States (Bceao) has launched a call for applications for the 2024 edition of the “Abdoulaye Fadiga Prize for the promotion of economic research”. Worth 10 million FCFA, this prize rewards original research work on an economic, monetary or financial subject of proven scientific interest for the member states of the West African Economic and Monetary Union (UEMOA). ) and for the Bceao.

What a MIDA
The articles to be submitted will focus on themes such as the analysis of financial innovations and digitalization, the evaluation of constraints linked to internal and external exogenous shocks (Covid-19 pandemic, war in Ukraine, terrorism, instability commodity prices) on economies, climate change and risks, financial stability and micro and macro prudential policies in the Union, economic growth, public finances, public debt and the coordination of monetary policies and budgetary. Any other theme likely to provide insight and a relevant contribution to the implementation of economic, financial and monetary policies in UEMOA is also admitted.
Young researchers who are nationals of one of the eight UEMOA member states, namely Benin, Burkina, Ivory Coast, Guinea-Bissau, Mali, Niger, Senegal, Togo), residing or not in the territory of the Union. Applicants must be under the age of 45 as of December 31, 2023.
The research work can be individual or have been developed by a team and will be submitted no later than August 31, 2024. Originality and interest of the subject, relevance of the problem, rigor and consistency of the methodological approach adopted, quality and reliability of the information provided, are among other criteria which will base the evaluation of the Jury composed of personalities from the Bceao as well as experienced researchers from universities and research centers in the Union and/or abroad.
