Starting this Friday, February 16, a new season of the Colombian Women’s League will begin with the 2024 season where Deportivo Pereira arrives with great expectations and the bar is too high after having reached the semifinals in its last two years under the guidance of coach Carlos Ariel Osorio. Now, with the technical direction of Jorge Enrique Patiño, they hope to continue on the winning path and, why not, be able to get closer to the final of the women’s championship.
About the 2024 squad
Precisely regarding the formation of the squad for this year, the coach says: “we have been building a team in which we initially planned to continue with the base of the previous year. However, some players left and we had to continue with those who remained. This helped us consolidate the team. We work on the idea of the game, the philosophy and the characteristics of each one. We saw combative and determined girls who have delivered a very optimal performance.”
2023 base payroll
Several of the players who made it to the semifinals last year continue with the Matecañas for this new challenge. They are Eliana Agudelo, Sofía Buitrago, Laura García, Erika Largo, Elsa Gómez, Sofía Patiño, María José Rojas, Valentina Rojas, Valeria Villegas and Alejandra Villegas. For their part, others joined after the supervision and calls made by the club.
