2025 Mini Cooper EV Revealed with Facelift, Increased Range, and Floating OLED Screen

The 2025 Mini Cooper EV has made its debut, showcasing a fresh facelift, extended range, and a remarkable floating OLED screen positioned in front of the dashboard. Mini, a subsidiary of BMW, revealed that the two electric vehicle variants, the Cooper E and Cooper SE, boast 190 miles and 250 miles of range respectively, based on the European EV test cycle. However, these figures are expected to decrease to approximately 175 miles and 215 miles when the vehicles undergo testing using the EPA test cycle, according to Ars Technica.

One of the highlights of the revamped Mini Cooper’s interior is the large OLED touchscreen, which replaces the traditional embedded rectangle found in previous models. Earlier this year, the company provided a teaser of the redesigned interior through videos featuring the screen’s animations. In a subsequent release, Mini offered more details about its capabilities. The screen not only serves as a display but also features Spike, a computer-generated dog that represents the company’s “fully-fledged voice assistant” announced a few months ago. Drivers who prefer an alternative can choose a “stylized representation of a Mini” option.

Mini has also introduced “Mini Experience Modes,” which allow drivers to alter the car’s handling and responsiveness. When cycling through these modes, the interior lights, instrument cluster, and OLED screen adapt their colors to match the atmosphere of the selected mode.

Voice control is an integral feature of the 2025 Mini Cooper EV. By saying “Hey Mini,” drivers can activate voice control for navigation, phone calls, in-car entertainment, and various other vehicle functions. The car is also designed to learn from the driver’s routine, automatically adjusting settings and preferences based on regular routes. Additionally, the vehicle’s display operates on the Android-based Mini Operating System 9.

Performance-wise, Mini claims that the Cooper E, with a power output of 184hp and 214lb-ft of torque, can accelerate from 0 to 60mph in 7.3 seconds. On the other hand, the more powerful Cooper SE variant, featuring 218hp and 243 lb-ft of torque, can achieve the same acceleration in just 6.7 seconds. The Cooper E is equipped with a 40.7kWh battery, while the Cooper SE boasts a larger 54.2 kWh capacity battery.

While the 2025 Mini Cooper EV retains its distinctive body style, there have been some notable changes. The headlights now feature oval-shaped LED surrounds with coordinated “welcome and goodbye animations” and three adjustable light signatures. At the rear, the car has undergone modifications, featuring angular lights that can be personalized, as demonstrated in a TikTok video released by Mini.

The 2025 Mini Cooper EV reveal has generated excitement among electric vehicle enthusiasts and fans of the iconic Mini brand. With its facelift, increased range, and cutting-edge features such as the floating OLED screen, Mini continues to push boundaries in the electric vehicle market.
