Lisbon – The 2030 World Cup in Portugal, Morocco and Spain “will be a success from every point of view”, said Portuguese Prime Minister Antonio Costa.
The decision of the FIFA Council to unanimously retain the Morocco-Spain-Portugal file as a single candidacy for the organization of the 2030 Football World Cup is “a new demonstration of our recognized capacity in the organization of major events”, writes the Portuguese PM on the social network X (formerly Twitter).
Expressing “his great joy” following this decision, Mr. Costa congratulated the national football federations of the three countries for their “dedication and the work accomplished” and praised this tripartite partnership.
A press release from the Royal Cabinet indicated that “His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist him, has the great pleasure of announcing to the Moroccan people that the FIFA Council has just unanimously adopted the Morocco-Spain file -Portugal as sole candidate for the organization of the 2030 Football World Cup.
This decision by the Council of the International Football Federation welcomes and recognizes Morocco’s place of choice in the concert of great nations, the press release underlined.
“His Majesty the King addresses, on this occasion, His congratulations to the Kingdom of Spain and the Republic of Portugal, while reiterating the commitment of the Kingdom of Morocco to work in perfect synergy with the authorities in charge of the file in each of the host countries,” said the Royal Cabinet press release.
