The 25th edition of the Morocco Rally, which extends over a total distance of 2,468 km, including 1,512 km of special stages, promises to be exciting, full of challenges and intense competition between the competitors, they indicated during a press conference, intended to present this sporting event as well as the participants.
According to the organizers, the headliner of this rally will be the Qatari star Nasser Al-Attiyah, current leader of the general classification of the world championship, who will be in strong competition with the Saudi Yazeed Al-Rajhi, title holder of the last edition of the Rallye du Maroc, as well as his compatriot Yasser Bin Saedan, who is looking to win a world title in the light vehicle (SSV) category.
This edition will also see the participation of international champions, such as the Spaniard Carlos Sainz driving a new Ford car, the French champion Sébastien Loeb driving a Dacia car, in addition to the Brazilian Lucas Moraes, the Saudi star Dania Aqeel and Qatari Ahmed Fahad Al-Kuwari.
The Morocco rally also sees the participation of 271 vehicles, including 126 cars complying with the regulations of the International Automobile Federation (FIA), and 136 motorcycles affiliated with the International Motorcycling Federation (FIM), representing 28 countries.
The director of the Rally of Morocco, David Castera, underlined on this occasion that this event will allow the competing champions to discover a new circuit across the Kingdom, noting that the Rally of Morocco is considered a success thanks to the participation of brand of competitors from several countries, as well as the participation of a Moroccan team in the car and motorcycle categories, who will have the opportunity to measure themselves against the great champions of this sport.
“The competition will be tough in the car category, especially since the Qatari champion, Nasser Al-Attiyah, driving Dacia, currently leader in the general classification of the championship, seeks to win the title of this edition, against the Saudi driver Yazeed Al-Rajhi, title holder of the last edition of the Rallye du Maroc,” he explained.
For his part, driver Nasser Al-Attiyah noted that his participation in the Morocco Rally is of great importance given that it is the last stage of the World Championship, stressing that this year he will be at the wheel of a new car for the “Dacia Sandriders” team, which has great ambitions in the world of rallying.
And to add that his objective is to win the stage in Morocco and at the same time, the world championship.
Saudi driver Yazeed Al-Rajhi, for his part, expressed his joy at participating in the Morocco Rally, of which he won the title last year, noting that the objective this year is to win this title again despite strong competition.
Morocco is participating in this rally with the “Africa Rally Team” composed of the duo Jawhara Bennani and Amine Guessous in the “Challenge” category, in addition to Ali Obassi and Hanane Amraoui in the “Open” category.
For his part, Soleiman Al Dhahri participates in the “Rally 3” category, where he seeks to improve his ranking after obtaining third place in the last edition.
In a statement to MAP, Jawhara Bennani, member of the “Africa Rally Team”, said she was happy to participate for the first time in this event and to represent Moroccan women during the last stage of the World Championship. .
