The ‘2nd Longevity Factor HDL Symposium’ will be held at the Grand Hyatt Seoul on the 27th. HDL researchers from around the world will gather to share the latest research trends and discuss the impact of HDL on human health and longevity.

HDL (high-density lipoprotein) is the only metabolic pathway that absorbs cholesterol accumulated in the lining of blood vessels and excretes it from the body. It plays a very important role in maintaining healthy blood vessels in the body and contributes to the prevention of cardiovascular disease and dementia. It is actively being studied in clinical trials for various diseases.

This year’s symposium will present the latest HDL research findings and discuss their impact on heart and brain health.

The first part of the event will be held under the theme of ‘The Importance of HDL in Chronic Disease Prevention’. △ Professor Kerry-Anne Lai of the School of Biomedical Sciences at UNSW Sydney, Australia, will present ‘The Role of HDL in Chronic Disease Prevention and Treatment’, and Saray Mendoza, Director of the Cuban National Institute of Scientific Research (CNIC), will present ‘The Antioxidant Effects of Policosanol in Patients with Metabolic Syndrome’.

In the second part, under the topic of ‘Brain Health and Longevity Factor HDL’, there will be a presentation on ‘The Role of HDL in Neurodegenerative Diseases’ by Laura Calablessi, Professor of Pharmacology at the University of Milan, Italy, and ‘Alzheimer’s Disease and Policosanol’ by Takuji Shirasawa, Director of the Shirasawa Anti-Aging Medical Research Institute in Japan.

In Part 3, under the topic of ‘Cardiovascular Disease and Longevity Factor HDL’, △ Kyung-Hyun Cho, Research Director at the Korea Reydel Institute, will present on ‘Improvement of HDL Quantity and Quality by Cuban Policosanol and Improvement of Blood Pressure, Cholesterol Outflow, and Coenzyme Q10 Metabolism’, △ Anand Rohatgi, Professor of Cardiology at Southwestern University Medical Center, USA, will present on ‘HDL and Cardiovascular Metabolic Health’, △ Keijiro Saku, Director of Kietsukai Nakagawa Hospital, Japan, will present on ‘HDL and Atherosclerosis’, △ Theodoros Kelesidis, Associate Professor of Internal Medicine at Southwestern University Medical Center, USA, will present on ‘The Importance of the Role of HDL in Cardiovascular Disease (CVD) in Human Immunodeficiency Virus (PLWH)’.
