Ottó Fogas, director of the Móra Ferenc Museum, greeted the 25,000th visitor to the ancient China exhibition just three weeks ago. Another 10,000 attendance milestone was celebrated on Thursday.

“I think that we have managed to realize the most popular and significant exhibition of the last ten years,” he said.

The 35,000th visitor was Ahmad Alina and Bálint Holcsik, two second-year students of the University of Szeged, who are studying recreation and lifestyle at the Gyula Juhász Teacher Training Faculty. Alina from Budapest, Bálint from Szeged. The couple told our paper that they rarely go to museums, Bálint last visited the Móra museum ten years ago, on a class trip. However, they had walked in front of the building so many times in recent months that they finally decided to exchange tickets for the China exhibition. After visiting the exhibition, the hall of the clay soldiers was also mentioned as their favorite experience.

Máté Vincze, Deputy Secretary of State for Public Collections and Cultural Development of the Ministry of Culture and Innovation, handed over the museum’s gift package to the young people. He said that the relationship between our country and China is active in the cultural sphere.

In Hungary, we have always wanted to understand this special, sometimes aloof world and find connections. Hungary also presents many cultural excellences in China, for example the Museum of Applied Arts has a large-scale exhibition, but several other museums also regularly exhibit. There is great interest in Hungarian artefacts in China, and the success of the Szeged exhibition shows that the reverse is also true. We Hungarians are also very interested in what this thousands-year-old culture can present and give us

he said.

The exhibition, which can be visited until the end of the year, features fifty realistic clay soldiers. As we wrote earlier, the purpose of the exhibition is to introduce the method and history of making the soldiers and the circumstances of their finding. The second large unit of the exhibition presents original, ancient objects from the Shanghai museum. The biggest sensation in the collection is a full regal death jade armor.
